Child Care Services Management - Overview

Overview

Child care services management programs prepare people to plan, design, and manage child care businesses. Students learn to create programs that meet the developmental needs of children. They also learn to provide children with a safe and healthy environment.

Are you drowning in your homework? Do you long for the good ol' days when school seemed to consist just of play time, story time, snack time, and nap time? Life was so simple back then, wasn't it?

Although building a house out of blocks is indeed much simpler than writing an essay or finishing pages of math homework, the principles of child care are much more complicated than you might think. It's a known fact that much of what children learn and are exposed to in their early years affects both how they grow up and who they grow up to be. Since many parents use child care centers and services for their children, child care workers carry the weight of a lot of responsibility. But if you love kids and would want to embrace this responsibility by creating a nurturing and educational environment for them as your profession, then child care services management may be the program of study for you!

As a student in this program, you learn about the stages of growth and development of children, from infancy through adolescence. You study ways of engaging children and nurturing their growth through nutrition, activities, and games. You also learn business and management principles so that you can run a child care service and manage potential employees. A number of schools offer certificate and associate degree programs in child care and management. A certificate typically takes about one year of full-time study after high school, and an associate degree usually takes about two.
